Chic Loungewear To Keep You Cozy During The Colder Months

Updated: May 4, 2019

Has there ever been a time when loungewear was not the wardrobe of choice? Probably not, and lucky for us the latest styles are nice enough to wear in public. We like to spend most of the breezy winter days indoors, and sometimes the oversized t-shirt just doesn’t do the trick. When it’s gloomy and the weather is in the negatives, the only logical reaction is to curl up on the couch with a hot mug of cocoa. And who says you can’t do that in style? If you like comfort, luxury, and want to feel like a girl boss while unwinding, you’ve come to the right place.

These pieces are fundamental additions to any wardrobe, especially for all of us here in Toronto. With some of our loungewear recommendations, there’s no way this year’s winter will intimidate you.

Pro tip: Loungewear makes a great gift for the holiday season - avoid disappointing friends or family by gifting these universally accepted pieces.

Fleece Pant

You can always count on Kit and Ace to provide the most modern but functional pieces. We love these 100% fleece joggers for an evening indoors. They’ll keep cold air from sneaking in, and if the pants aren’t enough, pair them with this matching pullover.

Yellow Sweatpants

Available at Anthropologie

Most loungewear comes in neutral colours, but we love a pop of colour from time to time. If this sounds like you, Anthropologie has the perfect unique twist on the classic cotton drawstring sweatpants. We need to get our hands on these mustard yellow sweatpants, and the black and grey contrast along the sides is an accent we’re especially loving.

Ribbed Leggings

Available at Simons

Leggings are a necessity, so we had to include these on the list. You can’t go wrong with black and the ribbed look gives plain black leggings a fun twist. Make sure to pair them with some fuzzy socks or slippers to keep your feet warm.

Ribbed Trousers

Available at Zara

Sometimes we don’t want to take off our leggings only to throw on another tight pair of leggings. If you prefer a wide leg pant, these Zara trousers are both trendy and warm. Look your best and feel your best in 100% cashmere.

Gaucho Pants

We’re obviously loving the latest in fashion, and wide legs are quickly replacing the skinny trend. Similarly to Zara, Simons makes a more affordable, short version of wide-leg lounge pants. They’re stretchy with a touch of cashmere and you can pair them with a matching pullover.

Teddy Lounge Hoodie

Available at Nordstrom

Teddy bear coats are all the rage, so why not have one for the house? It seems the days of lounging in your long bathrobe are long gone because now we have chic pyjama jackets instead. The only way to make this an amazing investment is a hoodie—just like this fuzzy jacket from Nordstrom.

Dressing Gown

Available at Zara Home

This dressing gown is a mix between a bathrobe and a fashionable cardigan. Why compromise style and quality when you can invest in a 98% cotton gown with a front pocket and belt in the cutest nude colour?

Fur Sweater

Available at Zara Home

Oversized, slouchy, furry… They’re all words we look for when hunting down the perfect lounge sweater. We’re not particularly good at keeping white shirts clean while “Netflix and snacking”, so we need Zara to release this v-neck faux fur sweater in just a few more colours.

Dress Sweater

Available at Simons

Yes, it’s totally okay to buy velour clothes these days (and show them off in selfies). If pants aren’t your favourite to lounge around the house in, this emerald green velvet dress sweater will keep you warm and cozy all winter. You’ll have the freedom to Snapchat and look put together while at the same time your lower half will feel free and comfortable.

For Your Furry Friend

Available at Bed Bath and Beyond

We know that dogs are already fluffy and warm to cuddle up next to, but maybe they’re secretly wishing they could have chic loungewear as well. Ugg makes the best slippers, and the best-hooded doggie sherpa pyjamas too!
