90's Denim is everywhere these days! Whether it's in the form of a baggy, loose, super high-wasted or no stretch pant, 90's denim has taken over and it isn't going anywhere.
For us curvy bottom girls, this trend can be our biggest nightmare. Finding a pair that fits over our bums but then is tight around our waist and loose enough around our thighs is next to impossible. I know because this has been my struggle for the last 10 months. I've checked everywhere - online
and in store, but the denim I would constantly find was either too stretchy, not stretchy enough, not high waisted enough or not 90's enough. Finally I had enough and went to my favourite thrift store in Toronto (Black Market) where I found jeans that were 75% perfect. They were loose enough but not too baggy, tapered slightly but gave me room to roll them up and they fit my bum nicely. The ONLY problem, which can be a real struggle when you have thicker thighs is the waistband was really big. However, because this was the closest I was going to get to the perfect fit I bought them for $10 and then had the waistband taken in by alterations for $22. Because they were meant to fit baggy, it was an easy fix - if they were fitted that would have been a completely different and restructuring story.
I'm so happy I finally have my perfect pair of 90's denim, for $33 no less. BUT... kind of annoyed with myself that I didn't do this 9.5 months ago.
For me, the best way to style 90's denim is always with heels. I've tried putting looks together with sneakers but for my body type, I don't find it as flattering. If you feel the same try your denim with a fitted top and heels. It will offer a nice balance to the baggy jean.
