I couldn’t think of a better day than today. A day where people can unapologetically be themselves, share and reflect on their past/present and realize that they are not standing alone.

Unifying. Is a word I would use to describe today.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this post, I just knew I had to make one. Should I delve into my own mental health past? Should I share my own experiences and reflect with all of you? I debated for a couple days on whether I wanted to share and if so, how much I wanted to share. But, as I type this paragraph, I realize that I don’t really want to share anything. And that’s okay. I’m not hiding anything or I’m not trying to avoid my problems or my past, I just don’t feel like sharing online because it’s just not who I am (which sounds weird because I’m a blogger), but, again, is okay.

This day isn’t about everyone having to share everything about themselves. It is really about realizing that you are not alone (whether you want to share or not), and with the immense volume of hashtags, SnapChat filters and Facebook posts that have blown up today it has been very successful. Whether you shared your life story, or just shared others, you have contributed to something incredible. Reading through hashtags and mentions I as well as anyone in this world can understand that they are not alone and that there are people around the globe supporting and rooting for them to get better or to seek help, because nobody’s problems are minuscular and everyone deserves to feel like they matter.

One day, I’ll find the courage or I’ll actually want to share my story to the world but it is not today. What’s worth noting is that by having these conversations about Mental Health we’re eliminating the stigma and supporting a great cause.

And, for those of you going through a hard time right now or feeling your lowest, reach out to someone. Whether it be family, friends, a teacher, or a pet (because they listen too!). And remember that you are special in every single way, you are unique and there are great things that lie ahead for you!

With that I hope you have an amazing rest of your Wednesday! Lots of love,

Nicole J
