The Top 7 Canadian Beauty Brands To Know

Canada, our home and native land! Home to major designers like DSquared2, Hollywood heartthrobs like Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds, and musicians like The Weeknd and Justin Bieber - we have a lot to be proud of. In addition to major players in the fashion and entertainment scenes, Canadian beauty brands are holding their own against some of the best and brightest labels on the market right now. Here we're highlighting seven of the biggest Canadian beauty brands we love.

MAC Cosmetics

No Canadian beauty roundup would be complete without including the biggest and probably most well-known of them all. MAC Cosmetics launched in 1984 by Frank Toscan and Frank Angelo, originally created for models and actresses. The brand became a huge global success, and although it may belong to France's Estee Lauder Company now, we'll never forget its Canadian roots.

Bite Beauty

Another Toronto beauty brand making a name for itself in recent years is Bite Beauty. Their buttery soft lipsticks and super hydrating lip masks are all made from food grade ingredients, so you know that what you're using on your skin not only looks good, but is good for you too.

Pura Botanicals

This all brand hailing from Edmonton is a natural skincare lover's dream! They have a full range of body and skincare products made from the highest quality natural ingredients, including a heavenly watermelon night mask that's perfect for dry skin. Bonus: their perfumes are even customizable!

This Canadian brand also happens to be a family business for founder Jenny Frankel and her daughters Ally and Taylor. These easy to apply, multi-purpose color sticks are perfect for women on the go, and are also vegan friendly and cruelty free.

RMS Beauty

Vancouver born makeup artist Rose Marie Swift is the mastermind behind the famous superstar glow of clients like Miranda Kerr and Olivia Wilde. It all started when she couldn’t find high-quality, organic colour cosmetics, so she decided to make her own. Be sure to check out the brand’s “Un”-Coverup and Living Luminizer to achieve a gorgeous glow of your own.

Skin Fix Inc.

This Halifax-based brand is turning to bamboo to solve all your skincare dilemmas. Specially formulated to target issues like eczema and sensitive skin, their lotions and scrubs are gentle enough to use all over. Try their facial exfoliating pads for a daily treatment, which won Allure’s 2017 Best of Beauty Award for the best facial peel.

Province Apothecary

This all-natural line is formulated for sensitive skin from local, fresh ingredients and is made in small batches. It’s been a huge hit, making it onto Goop’s curated list of wellness-focused products for sale, as well as into your local Whole Foods. My top pick is their Moisturizing Cleanser, an oil based makeup remover that makes a great first step in your nighttime skincare routine.
